Proctors announces new concert series, Capital Records Live

SCHENECTADY—With a little help from world class musicians across the region, Proctors and WAIX 106.1 are teaming up to present a new concert series highlighting classic albums performed by local artists. Capital Records Live debuts 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 23 at the GE Theatre at Proctors.

Performing selections from The Beatles (aka The White Album) and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band in its entirety, six unique acts—Bryan Brundige Collective, Clear Mind, Eastbound Jesus, Girl Blue, Let’s Be Leonard and Wild Adriatic—will come together on stage to celebrate the work of the Fab Four.

Beatles trivia will be hosted by Chuck Vosganian of Rochmon Record Club.

Tickets, $25, are available at the Box Office at Proctors, 432 State Street, Schenectady; by phone at (518) 346-6204; and online at proctors.org.

Sal Prizio, program coordinator at Proctors, explains “With CRL, our mission is to introduce music fans in this market, each year, to the abundance of great local music.”

Attendees will experience distinct renditions of The Beatles’ most recognizable tracks.

Brundige’s Collective revives swing and blues from the early twentieth century, offering just the right jaunty feel to “When I’m 64.” Albany hip-hopper Clear Mind, deftly handling the chatter of “Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite,” is acclaimed for his lyricism and humble approach. Roots sextet Eastbound Jesus, with a rollicking “With A Little Help from My Friends,” puts a Greenwich spin on its bluegrass rock sound. Indie singer/songwriter Girl Blue is making waves beyond her hometown, racking up over two million Spotify hits for “Fire Under Water”—her “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” will be worth at least a million. Let’s Be Leonard, from Saratoga Springs, rocks an indie-jazz fusion to “Helter Skelter.” And, recognized for its soulful rock grooves and labeled “an act to get behind” by USA Today, Wild Adriatic—capping festivities with “A Day in the Life”—hails from Queensbury, but tours the globe.

“All these great bands will be in the same place, at the same time,” says Prizio, setting the stage for an all-star jam to conclude the evening.
