Wine tasting, food sampling, upscale shopping, silent and live auctions, and more
St. Patrick’s Day isn’t the only event to celebrate this week. The return of the Ninth Annual Capital Region Wine Festival, 1 p.m. Saturday, March 18, at Proctors, is sure to quench your thirst.
The Capital Region Wine Festival has become an annual fundraiser at Proctors, with all proceeds benefiting 440 State Street, Inc. This year’s event will feature a wide range of bottles from over two dozen vintners and distributors, including Constellation Wines, J. Lohr, Enovation Brands, Jackson Family Fine Wines and Pleasant Valley Wines to list a few.
Wine aficionados can sample a wide variety of exceptional red, white and sparkling wines while browsing offerings from vendors like RM Irish Jewels, Habana Premium Cigar Shoppe, Gusto Della Vita, AC Woodcraft, 22 Shades of Gray, Planted Organics, Leaning Tree Designs; and sampling fare from Aperitivo Bistro, Apostrophe Café, Pasta Pane, Angelo’s Tavolo and other area restaurants.
A live 4 p.m. auction, featuring large format bottles such as Josh Cabernet, Feuillatte Palmes d’or, Cliffhanger Rosso, J. Lohr Cabernet and more, is open to the public.
Three levels of admission—available from the Box Office at Proctors, 432 State Street, Schenectady; by phone at 518.346.6204; or online at proctors.org—will satisfy all patrons.
Designated Drivers, $25, choose from a variety of soft drinks, coffee and restaurant samples. Ticketholders for the Grand Tasting Affair, $50, may sample many different wines in addition to enjoying food samples and shopping. And the Club Grand Vin package, $100 (limited to 100 patrons), includes a private post-auction Club Grand Vin tasting of distinctive reserve wines (all valued at more than $100 a bottle), passed hors d’oeuvres and live entertainment.
