Gospel Jubilee

Lisa Page Brooks headlines; community leader Wes Holloway recognized for advocacy of urban organizations, programs and projects

The critically acclaimed Gospel Jubilee returns to Proctors for its fifth installment, sure to bring great joy and uplifting music to all in attendance. This much anticipated event has become the largest continuing gospel celebration in the Capital Region.

Worship leader and gospel singer Lisa Page Brooks headlines a diverse lineup of soulful luminaries including cellist Monica Wilson-Roach; a quartet from the Macedonia Children’s Orchestra; the Jubilee Praise Dancers; and the Jubilee Mass Choir under the direction of Albany’s renowned Reverend Elgin Joseph Taylor, Sr.

Brooks began her musical career as vocalist in the award-winning group Witness, releasing 11 chart-topping albums. Her fourth solo disc, Strong, produced the #1 Billboard single, “I Want to Say Thank You.” She has received the Stellar Award, the Gospel Music Excellence Award and has been nominated for Dove, Grammy and Soul Train awards.

Brooks also serves as executive pastor of the Restoration Fellowship Church International in Detroit.

Wes Holloway, retired VP of Diversity for Price Chopper Supermarkets, will be recognized for his advocacy of diversity initiatives and corporate support for underserved communities. Holloway has sat on the boards of The Boys and Girls Clubs of Schenectady, the Schenectady YMCA and the Urban League of Albany. In 2006, he was named a Schenectady County Human Rights Commissioner, a position he still holds.

Today, he remains active in community initiatives, including the Schenectady County Gun Buyback Program, City Mission’s Schenectady Bridges and the Schenectady County Human Rights Commission.

Philip Morris, CEO of Proctors, says, “In every encounter Wes amazes me with his warmth, humanity and clarity. There is no conversation I can imagine where his participation would not change the course for the better.”

Gospel Jubilee at Proctors is sponsored by Price Chopper and Cool Insuring Agency, Inc.
