Schenectady businesses join to aid in long term hurricane relief

SCHENECTADY, NY—SEPT 19, 2017—As more dangerous storms swirl in the Atlantic Ocean, Schenectady remains aware that victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma will long be working to recover from the environmental, economic and emotional chaos left in the wake of recent historic tempests.

With that in mind, a robust group of Schenectady businesses has gathered to deliver funds that will assist in the long haul, with proceeds going to communities in East Texas and the Florida Keys.

Schenectady Serves is a simple way for local citizens to aid families in need while enjoying good food and the kind of community conversation that brings us all together in the best way.

From 4:30–6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 27, a $5 donation gets patrons a delicious meal along the Proctors block of State Street, from Aperitivo Bistro; Johnny’s; Mexican Radio; Nico’s Rooftop Tavern; and others. The warm feeling from helping out is free.

Schenectady Serves is a project of participating restaurants and The Alt; the Schenectady Office of the Capital Region Chamber of Commerce; The Daily Gazette; DeCrescente Distributing Company; Discover Schenectady; Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation; Mallozzi’s; Mazzone Hospitality; Proctors; Rivers Casino and Resort; Schenectady Armory Center; and WGNA (which will provide music for the event).

Proceeds will be administered by Fundabilities. Donations may be made directly to https://www.fundabilities.com/Schenectady-Serves.

Tickets are available at Proctors, 432 State Street, which is also rain site for Schenectady Serves.
